Parents - Senior Night is fast approaching. It will be held on Jan. 19th before our wrestling match vs Blackman and Siegel. In years past we have had some parents to step up and take the lead to do something special for our seniors on that night. This year we have 8 seniors. The parents will usually go in together and get them a little gift bag or something like that and a rose for the mother of the wrestler. They will be announced to the crowd and their parents will escort them out to the center of the mat to be recognized. Please let me know if you can help out coordinating senior night. Thanks Coach Harris.

Hello parents and friends of the 2022-23 Oakland Patriot Wrestling Team. We are restructuring the way we are doing our fundraisers this year to hopefully give you some options that will work best for your family and help us reach the goals we have for our program. We are asking that each wrestler in our program help our team raise $500 dollars this year. In years past we have had a $225-$275 player fee. With that fee we bought the gear for each wrestler, paid refs, mat tape, paid tournament expenses, paid fuel expenses and help give a little money to our assistant coaches (who do not get a county supplement) just to name a few. We are at the point where our mats are getting older and we need to start saving up for new mats and we are adding more coaches. Contrary to what some may have heard wrestling gets zero money budgeted to us from the county and we must do all the fundraising in house in order to make it through each year and we are on our own when we have to buy mats. Oakland wrestling is one of the top programs in the state for the last 4 years. We are making appearances in the state tournament (3 of the last 5 years), we won the Region in 2021, region runners-up last year and made it to sub-state, we had 5 state medalists, 2 state finalists and a state champion last year. We need your help to grow our program even more. Below I will list the options that we will have to help accomplish those goals.
Goal = Minimum of $500 Each Wrestler - $200 for the individual and $300 for the team. Individual Fee = $200 - What do I get? The Rudis Bundle will be available on on-line store for $130 - so if you purchase on the store and $70 to the BSN Store – that would be subtracted from the $200 individual fee leaving
We will also do hamburger, chips, and drink sale at homecoming festival – We will have a list of items that we need donated for this event, all proceeds come back to wrestling Other options for fundraising. OPT 1 – Write a check for $300 dollars to Oakland Wrestling and Opt Out of Fundraising -Buy the rudis bundle for $130 on-line –buy the hoody and bag from the BSN Store. Just turn in a check for $300 dollars. OPT 2 – Support a Patriot – (Calendar Fundraiser) – Instructions will be included OPT 4 – Get a Business Sponsor to support our team – Instructions will be included. The following items are a must have for every wrestler. Rudis Singlet, Rudis T-Shirt, Rudis Fight Shorts, Hoody , Wrestling Bag. It will be theirs to keep. The rudis bundle will be purchased through an on-line store for $130 and Hoody and Bag from the BSN store for $70 Dollars. Parents,
We are having our soup supper on Thursday, October 26th in the main cafeteria. We do this to meet the parents of the young men that are new to the Oakland wrestling family as well welcome back the old wrestler’s and their parents. The soup supper is a pot luck dinner. Please bring a crock pot full your favorite recipe of soup, or chili as well as a drink. We will eat first and then I will give out some very important information about the wrestling season and answer any questions that you may have. Please make sure at least one parent attends the soup supper. When you arrive come through the main entrance in the front. If you have any questions call Coach Harris – Phone # 615-414-4213 Thanks. |
